GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN BRAND MANAGEMENT (PART-TIME)

 


Introduction


The GDBR programme is aimed at providing a sound understanding and competent level of brand knowledge and skills essential in analysis, planning, implementation and decision-making so as to build brand equity. The outcome is that students are well-fitted to work in the branding and marketing world.


Programme Objective


At the end of the programme, the student will be able to:

•  apply marketing principles in marketing decisions for branding purposes.

•  develop and enhance strategic decision making skills regarding integrated brand communications.

•  devise and implement strategies and apply tools to fulfil key responsibilities as a brand manager.

•  plan and evaluate brand strategies across consumer and business markets and across goods and services.

•  define and deploy new brand development and marketing strategies to support profitable new products, services and brands within the overall strategic context of a firm.

•  plan, design, develop and evaluate a proposal for a branding campaign.

 

The programme will be delivered with a blended focus on academic and professional orientations. 50% of the content will emphasise on theoretical concepts while the remaining half will focus on professional practices with project-based learning opportunities.

 

This programme assumes that candidates have basic marketing knowledge and practical experience in a marketing or marketing-related environment. Candidates without marketing experience are expected to undertake independent learning or self-direct study / work to equip themselves with basic marketing knowledge.

 

Upon successful completion of this programme, candidates may progress to Northumbria University master degree with exemptions of relevant modules (exemptions to be granted is subjected to approval).


Programme Structure & Curriculum


This is a 12-month part-time programme covering 6 modules at one module every 2 months. With a total of 36 contact hours, this programme is delivered on an intensive basis over 1 weekend per month. Each module, except the Capstone Project, can be taken without pre-requisites and is offered on a rolling basis. Students will commence work on the Capstone Project (GDBR301) from the start of course and be given 12 months period to complete. Final submission of the Capstone project (GDBR301), which may include a project presentation and report, will be required at the end of the 12-month study.

Examinations & Assessment


This programme involves through a combination of coursework, assignments, projects, presentations and examinations / tests.

 

All modules contain both formative and summative assessment components. Summative assessments for each module may be based on an individual assignment, tutorials, group project and a final written examination.

 

Tutorials during class may take a variety of forms depending on the module and include class participation, debates, case studies and oral presentations. Take home work may also be allocated to students.

 

Students are required to pass the final exams (end-course assessment component) in order to be granted a passing grade for the module. A student who fails the final examination will take the supplementary examination. Should the student fail the supplementary examination, he or she is required to repeat the module.


Award of Certificate


Students who have completed all necessary course works, successfully passed all required modules and met all financial obligations to the Institute shall be awarded the Graduate Diploma in Brand Management and be allowed to use the designatory letters “Grad Dip B R” after their names.

A non-refundable application processing fee of S$214.00 (incl. 7% GST) is chargeable upon application and submission of documents.


The course fees cover course materials and lesson delivery by local tutors and DOES NOT include textbooks and other miscellaneous charges, if any.


MIS Membership


The Marketing Institute of Singapore is a professional body for sales and marketing practitioners. All successful applicants must be individual members of the Institute.

Changes & Amendments


The Marketing Institute of Singapore Training Centre reserves the right to vary, change and amend the module content, entry requirements, course fees, curriculum, examination rules and regulations, lecturers, lecture date, venue and other aspects of the course at any time prior to and during the delivery of the modules.

 

Application Procedures


An applicant must complete the application form and return it together with the following documents:

•  Certified true copies of educational certificates/degrees/diplomas Certification may be made by your company or at Marketing Institute of Singapore Training Centre, in which case, the originals must be presented for verification.

•  One passport-sized photograph.

•  A crossed cheque of S$214.00 (incl. 7% GST) for the application processing fee (non-refundable) made payable to “ MIS Training Centre ”. Payment by Cash, NETS and credit cards are accepted at the Institute.
