Diploma in Sales & Marketing (Part-Time)



Introduction


This Diploma in Sales and Marketing (DSM) is a professional marketing programme specially designed for those who wish to upgrade their knowledge and skills in sales and marketing, and to further their career. Hence, it is widely recognised in Singapore as the professional sales or marketing manager’s passport to a career in sales or marketing for over 20 years.


The diploma is one of the institute's flagship programmes and regarded as the leading programme of its class in Singapore. Curtin University recognises the completion of the diploma as prior learning for articulation into their Bachelor of Commerce degree programme


Programme Objective


The DSM programme aims to provide students with a managerial orientation towards sales and marketing. It covers all relevant topics that informed sales and marketing professional needs to know, as well as providing insights to issues faced in strategic, tactical and administrative marketing.

Strategic Marketing:
Case Analysis and Decisions

This programme involves lectures, group discussions, case studies and presentations by students. Classes are usually held two to three times a week from 7.00pm to 10.00pm on weekdays or 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm on Saturdays with a total of 36 contact hours per module. Weekly lectures are conducted by qualified and experienced local lecturers approved by the institute.


Examinations & Assessment


All students are required to sit for a written examination for all modules at the end of each semester. Students must fulfil the attendance requirement of at least 75% for each module before they are considered eligible to take the end-of-semester examinations.


The candidate will be allowed to sit for the supplementary examination(s) for the module(s) that they have failed in the main examination. However, a supplementary examination fee of $53.50 (incl. 7% GST) per module is applicable.


To repeat a failed module, a student must attend classes and pay a course fee of $481.50 (incl. 7% GST) per module before he/she are considered eligible to take the examinations.


There is no limit to the number of times a student may re-sit any module. However, a student must complete the DSM course within three years of registration, which is from the commencement of the first semester.


All examination questions and the marking of scripts will be moderated and/or examined by the Marketing Institute of Singapore Training Centre Board of Studies before they are released to students. The decision of the Board is final and no correspondence will be entertained.


Award of Certificate


Students who have completed all necessary course works, successfully passed all required modules and met all financial obligations to the institute shall be awarded the Diploma in Sales and Marketing and be allowed to use the designatory letters “Dip S M” after their names.

A non-refundable application processing fee of S$214.00 (incl. 7% GST) is chargeable upon application and submission of documents.


The course fees cover course materials and tuition by local tutors and DOES NOT include textbooks and other miscellaneous charges, if any.


MIS Membership


The Marketing Institute of Singapore is a professional body for sales and marketing practitioners. All successful applicants must be individual members of the Institute.

Skills Development Fund (SDF)

The DSM programme is supported by the Skills Development Fund under the Pre-approved scheme. Students on company sponsorship will be eligible for a subsidy amount of up to $3024.00, or $4098.79 (for students age 40 and above). NTUC Surrogate Employer Programme (NTUC-SEP)

Students on NTUC-SEP sponsorship will be eligible for a subsidy amount of up to $3024.00, or $4098.79 (for students age 40 and above). Log on to www.ntuc.org.sg for more information.

We are committed to adhere with full integrity in all matters, including issues related to course entry pre-requisites, course details, enrolment information, student contracts, refund of course fees, as well as transfer and withdrawal regulations.


Hence, it is mandatory that all students, or legal guardians if the student is under the age of 21, must sign the CASE Standard Student Contract with the institute prior to the enrolment of each programme. Refer to CaseTrust for Education for more information.


Changes & Amendments


The Marketing Institute of Singapore Training Centre reserves the right to vary, change and amend the module content, entry requirements, course fees, curriculum, examination rules and regulations, lecturers, lecture date, venue and other aspects of the course at any time prior to and during the delivery of the modules.
