Discover Your Sales Strength

Do you have a burning desire to be in sales? Are you very monetary driven? If your answer is yes, then sales could be your possible choice of profession. However, in addition to monetary achievement, there are many other intangible benefits of sales such as meeting interesting people, controlling over time, and the self-desire to succeed that had attracted many people to consider sales profession.


Several Harvard Business School studies and quotes from Patton and Sardar (2002), Drs. Jeanne and Herbert Greenberg have highlighted a few characteristics that appear to be common among salespeople. These characteristics include self-confidence, high energy level, empathy, determination, goal-oriented and ability to see obstacles as challenges.


The good news is anyone can be a top seller by studying, practicing, concentrating, and focusing on his own performance (Basis International, 2002).


If you are going into sales and want to get the most out of the sales, know more about the following attributes that benchmark the sales winners.


A Strong Desire to Excel

Successful salespeople show evidence to others by their strong desire to excel for what they do.


An Interest in Others

Successful salespeople tends to sell for the love of helping others to get what they want. They are responsive to provide prompt service when serving customers. They want to make customers’ life better and willing to learn enough to determine how to help the customers.


Confidence and Strength

Successful salespeople walk and talk with confidence and strength about things around them.


Empathy

Great salespeople have the ability to listen and see things from the customer’s perspective. They are able to relate to customer with warmth and sincerity. They provide personalized care and attention to customer and hence created bonds of trust with the customers.


Goal Setter

Great salespeople know exactly what they want and set smart (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and timeline) goal. They strive for what they want to achieve and take actions to accomplish it. They keep themselves focused on doing daily activities that are productive each day.


Persistence

Salespeople have tremendous amount of persistence and work their time most effectively toward achieving their goals. The trait of persistence and never give up to fight for another round are obvious in the successful salespeople. They rely on persistency to face obstacles to get their way.


Enthusiasm

Salespeople are enthusiastic about their work, product they sell, their colleagues and the company they work for. The high spirit of enthusiasm makes the salespeople more attractive and therefore more successful.


Positive

Salesperson tell their customers what they can do, not what they can’t do to keep relationship positive. They have the ability to reframe the situation in a better light and a positive way.
